Mireia Villar Forner

Ms. Villar Forner has more than 30 years of diverse experience within the United Nations and the private sector, spanning sustainable development, strategic partnerships, crisis recovery and development coordination. Previously, she served as the United Nations Resident Coordinator in Colombia and Uruguay, leading the work of the United Nations development system in these countries to advance the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. She has also held several senior leadership positions with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), including Resident Representative in Uruguay, Deputy Resident Representative in Bolivia and Iraq, and roles at headquarters focused on crisis prevention and recovery and in the Brussels liaison office on partnerships. Prior to joining the United Nations, Ms. Villar Forner worked in the financial sector in Spain. She holds a master’s degree in foreign service from Georgetown University and a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Barcelona.
