Communications Officer in Mauritius and Seychelles

As the Communications and Advocacy Officer in the Resident Coordinator’s Office in Mauritius and Seychelles, Janee Connery helps connect the work of the UN country team with strategic partners in Mauritius.

Janee is especially proud of her role in linking up with the youth in the country. In 2022, she coordinated a national photo contest called “Narrating the Sustainable Development Goals through the Eyes of the Youth,” supported by the UN country team to give voice to the aspirations of young Mauritians for a sustainable future. In collaboration with the public and private sector and schools nationwide, including the island of Rodrigues, Janee amplified the campaign on social media, and as a result, over 300 submissions were received, from which 10 winning photos were selected.

The team is in discussions to host a similar event to galvanize more youth to take action for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
