Communications officer in Jordan

Khetam  Malkawi, the Communications and Advocacy Officer in the Resident Coordinator Office in Jordan is proud of her support to the UN’s efforts to advocate in support of critical priorities for the country. She ensures targeted messaging and media outreach to ensure maximum impact for specific issues.

For instance, in the lead-up to the Global Food System Summit of 2021, her efforts ensured that a UN Policy brief in support of sustainable food systems entitled Healthy Diets for all in Jordan received widespread attention: it was trending on the day of the launch and was picked up by a leading national TV station, leading to a reach of more than 250,000 viewers in one day. Further amplification through several TV talk shows helped serve as megaphone for the UN Country Team’s support for this critical issue.  As the full-time communications expert for the first time since the reform, Khetam has helped ensure that the UN website in Arabic and English jumped from 66,950 pageviews in 2021 to 95,710, representing a 70 per cent increase as of September 2022.
