Communications Officer in Multi-Country Office Barbados

As the Communications and Advocacy Officer in the Resident Coordinator’s Office in Barbados, Carol A. Gaskin helps communicate the results of the UN’s support to 10 countries across the sub-region, advocating for crucial issues such as gender equality, climate action and the fight against misinformation.

She is especially proud of her advocacy efforts to foster global solidarity and increase support for the Government and people of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines following the eruption of the La Soufriere volcano on April 9, 2021.

Carol supported the coordination of the visit of the UN Resident Coordinator and two UN senior officials to Saint Vincent and the Grenadines in the immediate aftermath of the disaster. In support of a USD$29.2 million global funding appeal that was launched together by the Resident Coordinator and the Prime Minister, a 5-minute documentary video about the visit was also produced that garnered over 31,000 views on YouTube. Effective preparation and dissemination of all communications materials and facilitation of interviews with major international media including the BBC, served to promote the work of the United Nations regionally and globally.
