Communications Officer in Albania

As the Communications Officer in the Resident Coordinator Office in Albania, Guri Daco is dedicated to highlighting the role of the UN in supporting the country in its progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Guri leads the positioning of the UN’s work across key digital channels. For example, the official UN team website, albania.un.org, available in English and Albanian, reached a record of over 19,000 new visitors, representing an increase of 23 per cent from 2021 to 2022. UN Albania’s social media channels saw an increase in organic growth of 20 per cent in 2022, enabling much greater transparency about the UN’s contributions to sustainable development in the country. This transparency is further advanced by a bimonthly UN newsletter “Delivering for Development,” edited by Guri.

Guri is proud of the successful advocacy campaigns he spearheaded to enable the UN to engage effectively with private sector partners in SDG-related initiatives. For example, Vodafone Albania, a UN Global Compact partner, is launching “Play4SDG”, an interactive quiz game for the public, that has the potential of reaching over 400,000 people. Guri piloted these ideas with the UN Youth Advisory Group, which brings together young people to advises the UN in Albania Country Team on key issues affecting youth.
