Partnerships Officer Honduras

Meet Norma Garcia, the Partnerships Officer in the Resident Coordinator’s Office in Honduras.  As the UN´s 2030 Agenda Focal Point in the country, she brings various development partners together to create a multistakeholder coalition for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with special focus to leaving no one behind.

Under the leadership of the Resident Coordinator, Norma supported the Government of Honduras in the drafting process and content development of the country´s first two  Voluntary National Reviews (VNR) and is currently providing similar support for the national 2024 VNR. She also engages with various government counterparts, UN Agencies, civil society, academia, private sector and donor community partners in identifying SDG accelerators for Honduras in preparation for the upcoming SDG Summit.

As a response to the over 3.2 million Hondurans currently facing food insecurity,  Norma supports the Resident Coordinator and the members of the Scaling Up Nutrition interagency group in advocating for food security and nutrition with top government decision makers and finding integrated sustainable solutions.  In addition, she has coordinated UN-government joint efforts to engage vulnerable populations through national dialogues in preparation and follow-up for various global summits, including on Food Systems, Transforming Education, Nutrition for Growth and Effective Development Co-operation.
