Head of Resident Coordinator's Office in Guyana
As Head of the Resident Coordinator’s Office, Will Evans works with the UN country team to support Guyana in achieving an economic and social transformation that is as inclusive and sustainable as possible. He has established mechanisms ensuring that indigenous people, youth, persons with a disability, and women and girls all get to inform both the UN’s development programming, and contribute to the wider national development conversation.
In 2022, Will established a partnership with the University of Guyana to deliver a series of Guyana climate change policy dialogues. These presented national authorities with practical policy options on urban development, bioenergy, clean transportation systems, and emissions reductions. Regionally, Will has worked closely with the Heads of RC Offices in Belize, Trinidad & Tobago, Jamaica, Barbados and Suriname to establish the second ‘Multi-Country’ Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework for 22 countries and territories in the Caribbean. This establishes a common pathway towards the Agenda 2030 for Sustainable Development, and aligns some US$195.4 million in development assistance, implemented by 23 UN entities, in direct support to 22 Small Developing States.
