Head of Resident Coordinator's Office in Guinea

Meet Mouna El Jaouhari, the Head of the Resident Coordinator’s Office in the Republic of Guinea. In collaboration with the Government, technical and financial partners, she supports the Resident Coordinator and the UN country team in designing UN’s work to best meet the diverse needs of the people in Guinea. When the Government was designing its new National Development Plan, she brought technical experts from various UN entities to help the Government incorporate key Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) targets into the Plan and to the related macroeconomic analyses.  This effort laid the foundation for the country to initiate the establishment of the Integrated National Financing Framework.

Mouna supported the Resident Coordinator in convening various stakeholders, including those from humanitarian and peacebuilding entities, to draft a UN’s integrated strategy which addresses the country’s both development and peacebuilding priorities, to ensure a smooth transition started in 2021 in the country. She embraces the value of innovations in development and led the first UN SDG leadership lab in Guinea in 2022 to invite youth in the country to jointly design solutions to the peacebuilding process and to help prevent gender-based violence.  Furthermore, she brought UN experts and government partners together to run a strategic foresight exercise in March 2022 to illustrate various policy options, such as on natural resource management, local governance and economic growth, and examine their implications for the achievement of the SDGs.
