The CCA has been the basis for developing the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF) 2021-2025 for Uganda, and has helped inform annual joint work plans, agency country programme documents and strategies as well as policy and advocacy efforts of the UN in Uganda. He has also been at the forefront of the efforts by the Africa regional Economists network efforts to build internal UN capacity to make the CCA a more useful tool for supporting sustainable development. In 2021, Simon played a central role in revitalizing the UN SDG Technical Working Group, which provides strategic technical advice to UN country team, Government and non-state actors on issues of implementation of SDGs in Uganda. The Group has enabled stronger system coherence and significantly reduced duplication of efforts in UN’s support to state and non-state actors progress towards the SDGs.

Similarly, he has continuously supported non-resident UN agencies and departments to implement their development interventions in Uganda. As a true believer in the power of collaboration, he also coordinated and provided technical leadership in supporting the UN country team develop a Joint UN Programme for Data and Statistics for 2023-2025. The programme aims to improve the enabling environment for the country to report on SDGs and enhance the use of evidence in decision making.
