Economist in Chad

Meet Simon Foud Ekobena, the Economist in the Resident Coordinator’s Office in Chad. Simon works across the UN country team to provide coherent support to the Government in dealing with multiple crises, including food insecurity, internal displacement and ongoing armed conflict in the Lake Chad region. 

Simon also supported the UN’s development of a joint programme response framework to help the Government minimize disruptions in the financial sector and assist poor and food-insecure households in the country through the SDG Fund. He led and coordinated the formulation process of UN's new generation Common Country Analysis (2022) for Chad, and he is currently supporting the preparation of the upcoming United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework with Chad (CHAD UNSDCF 2024-2026).

He also initiated the production of regular analytical briefs to inform the UNCT about major economic trends.
