Economist in Burkina Faso

Bouba Housseini, the Economist in the Resident Coordinator’s Office in Burkina Faso, works closely with agencies across the UN Country Team (UNCT) to shape an evidence-based and coherent UN approach to addressing the country’s interconnected security, humanitarian and development challenges.

Bouba’s strategic guidance and advice on economic issues has helped inform the development of the new UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework with the Government, including on issues related to public finance gaps, opportunities for further UN support and programming, and the creation of a financing strategy.

Bouba is also working closely with his counterparts, the RCO Economists in the Sahel region, to undertake a regional assessment of the economic situation in the Sahel and the implications for the Sustainable Development Goals. He also coordinates the UN support to the Government for the completion of the 2023 Voluntary National Review (VNR) process; the main mechanism which assesses the country’s annual progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals.
