Data Management Officer in Pakistan

Naeem Ullah, the Data Management Officer in the Resident Coordinator’s Office in Pakistan, supports the Government to strengthen its national data system for development, an area identified as a vital transformational principle in the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (2023-2027).

Making quality disaggregated and reliable data available requires further coordination and collaboration between statistical departments of the Government at various levels, as well as with other development partners including the UN.  In light of this, Naeem helped organize a joint UN-Government workshop in close collaboration with the UN’s Planning and Monitoring and Evaluation working group to discuss ways to improve the data collection and analysis for better monitoring of country’s progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).  Based on the outcome of the workshop, Naeem is supporting the Government to establish a joint working group on data with relevant local authorities and UN agencies, to demonstrate its collective progress against the SDGs.  Naeem is also proud of the annual result reports of the UN in Pakistan, which were awarded the best report in Asia Pacific region for two consecutive years, thanks to his contribution on quality data collection, analysis and visualization.
