Data Management Officer in China

Qinfei Zhu, the Data Management Officer in the Resident Coordinator Office in China, plays a vital role in ensuring effective joint monitoring, evaluation, and reporting on the UN’s contributions in China. Qinfei has brought over 20 ministries of the Government and UN entities together to develop a comprehensive framework for joint monitoring and evaluation for the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework.

Qinfei is excited about his work in promoting the use of big data for better SDG monitoring, implementation, and reporting, for instance, through harnessing geospatial data to monitor environment-related SDGs, in partnerships with the national academic institutions with strong big data expertise and resources. His effort in bringing UN entities onboard to the use of UN INFO, the UN-wide joint programming and monitoring platform, has improved programme coherence and effectiveness, and quality of the programme data UN collectively generates and reports.  In recognition of his expertise, Qinfei was recently deployed on a short assignment to the Resident Coordinator’s Office in Papua New Guinea (July-September 2022) to support the development of their Cooperation Framework.
