Connecting People and Ideas in a Post-Conflict Azerbaijan

Serving as a “convenor of people” and “connector of ideas”, the Resident Coordinator has enabled the UN to work better with the World Bank and the European Union to support the national post-conflict recovery efforts of Azerbaijan. New smart cities and villages are being established, in line with the New Urban Agenda. The needs of internally displaced people are being placed into the heart and offer of durable solutions. And the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic are being mitigated: thanks to enhanced coordination across the UN agencies and partners, last year the UN country team trained 26,000 people with new skills and helped them to find better jobs, including 13,000 health workers, and opened three resource centers to support women and girls across the country.
