Communications Officer in Mali

Meet Hamidou N’gatté, the Communications Officer in the Resident Coordinator’s Office in Mali whose passion for communications and previous experience in journalism has helped him improve the visibility of the UN in Mali and increase public engagement in the work of the 21 UN entities on the ground. 

Since taking up his position in April 2022, Hamidou has been working to strengthen communications and advocacy efforts in the field by raising awareness of joint UN programmes and efforts to accelerate Mali’s progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals. 

 As the secretary of the Communication Group Mali, which is co-led by UNESCO and MINUSMA, Hamidou supports colleagues across the UN country team implement the communication strategy, including for example by helping to organize a photo exhibition last year called ‘Mali Jakura’ which aimed to promote peace, sustainable development and social cohesion through visual art. 

Recently, Hamidou played a key role supporting the publication of the UN Mali Annual Results Report 2021, which received the award for best report of a country in a challenging situation from the UN Development Coordination Office.
