Communications Officer in Kosovo

Meet Shpend Qamil, the Communications Officer at the Resident Coordinator’s Office in Kosovo[1] whose background in human rights activism, mental health advocacy and community volunteerism has helped shape his approach to communicating the UN’s work in Kosovo. Shpend is a strong believer in the role that art, science and innovation play in communicating compelling messages and winning over ‘hearts and minds’.

His role focuses on coordinating communications across the UN in Kosovo team and bringing greater visibility to the critical issues affecting society. In 2020 Shpend was instrumental in coordinating an inter-agency campaign called #ForTheSakeOf, which installed a series of billboards featuring giant 3D masks in the main squares of cities across Kosovo to encourage people to comply with public health measures during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.
