Leaving no-one behind in Guatemala

In Guatemala, a middle-income country facing development and humanitarian challenges, the UN country team has invested more than 120 million dollar and has reached 2.7 million people so far, working together with the national Government.

For example, led by the Resident Coordinator, the UN country team developed 36 different joint programmes and initiatives within the framework of the Comprehensive Development Plan for Central America on migration, which support the Government’s efforts for safe, orderly and regular migration.

As the co-lead of the humanitarian country team in Guatemala, the Resident Coordinator has also played a key role in leading the UN’s joint response to emergencies, including natural disasters and climate change, through the launch of a Humanitarian Response Plan appeal for 2021 and 2022, supporting the lifesaving efforts of the national authorities and NGO community.
