Partnerships Officer in Mongolia

Digital transformation is recognized to be critical accelerators for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Mongolia, a landlocked developing country with limited options for economic diversification. Alice, the Partnership Officer in the Resident Coordinator’s Office has worked to support a coalition of UN entities - UNICEF, UNDP, ITU, UNESCO – in supporting the Ministry of Digital Development and Communications in areas such as digital literacy, digital economy, cyber security, and digital inclusion. As a result, the UN has a collective strategy to accompany the Government’s Digital Nation Strategy.

In this effort, Alice supports the Resident Coordinator to co-chair with the Government the Development Partner’s Thematic Working Group on digital transformation. She supported the organization of the first Global Digital Dialogue in 2022, co-organized by the government and the UN, to exchange experiences on digital transformation strategies with Member States, UN entities, private sector, international financial institutions and other key stakeholders. The outcomes not only inform Mongolia’s Digital Nation Strategy but also informs the designing of the new Global Digital Compact.

Alice performed functions in Mongolia from June 2021 to November 2022.
