Head of Resident Coordinator's Office in Pakistan

Meet Shah Nasir Khan, the Head of Resident Coordinator's Office in his native Pakistan, a country consistently ranked as amongst the ten most vulnerable countries against climate change. He has played a critical role in support the Resident Coordinator’s engagement with the government and a wide range of partners on a national initiative on restoring the Indus River basin, one most important ecosystems in the country.

Shah’s coordination role was crucial in leading the prioritization exercises for the design of the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (2023-2027), which led to the emergence of the idea for the initiative, and in supporting of the UN country team at national and sub-national levels.  With the formal endorsement by the government, the “Living Indus” was launched in September 2022 in the aftermath of catastrophic flooding, as a portfolio of 25 different initiatives to sustain the most important ecosystem in the country, looking at climate adaptation from economic, environmental and social issues.
